Description

Steve Lukather is the most notable guitar extraordinaire on the planet. He has been nominated for 12 GRAMMY'S with 5 wins, is in The Musicians Hall Of Fame, & has the Lifetime Achievement Award from Guitar Player Magazine. He has performed on over 1500 albums including Michael Jackson's "Thriller", Toto's "Toto IV", etc..

Here is an early rig from his touring day's in Toto. The rig includes a Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ Coliseum Head (in case) with a Mesa Boogie cabinet (cab in flight cases). This Mesa head is the Holy Grail of all Mesa amps. It was also used by Prince to record Purple Rain. This was on tour with Toto in Japan and was used from 1984 until he changed his entire touring rig.

Here is the actual amplifier in a Mesa Boogie ad with Steve Lukather.

This amplifier was also popularized by James Hetfield of Metallica, played by Prince while recording “Purple Rain”, Larry Carlton, Santana, Tony Iommi, Michael Landau, Dream Theater, Brad Gillis, John Sykes, Oz Fox, Michael Sweet, etc. these are quite versatile amps.

Bob Bradshaw on Lukather's gear: "Mike Landau and Steve Lukather grew up together and were buddies, and Mike hipped me to Luke. I hooked up with Steve Lukather in the summer of 1984, and that's when things really started taking off. I worked and toured with them for years. From 1985 to, like, '90-'91, every show they did, I was there."
